Several of us saw the webcast as we are interested in doing this (AD
management of Macintosh). They seem to have thought of everything and to
really know what they are doing wrt *nix talking to AD, and have exploited a
niche (a chasm actually) that has many possible customers. We've tried both
Centrify and the AD plug-in in Directory Access, and the former seems to
have some features that are not available in the latter.
We also had a few questions though that were unanswered in the Q&A. (I plan
to send these directly to Centrify, so if you don't know it's not a
problem.)
How does Centrify handle converting accounts already existing on OSX when
installed into the machine?
The company appears to be a privately held start-up. Are they well-funded?
How long will they be around?
Or better still, how does Centrify handle AD that's using PKINIT
(smartcard logon)? ;) (Answer: it doesn't. So what happens with FIPS
201 and you're supposed to be using your new HSPD-12-compliant PIV for
network authentication?)
