OS X doesn't cache keychains like that. Which keychain are you looking
at? Can you email me screenshots (directly, not to the list) of
Keychain Access with the smartcard keychain selected, and of certificate
inspection window (what you get when double-clicking on a cert) with
details expanded for the email signing cert from the smartcard keychain?
Once I find a way to force Keychain to dump the cache and
find the correct email address in the cert, I can change the email
address in the accounts of Mail...
You need to change Mail first. Until you reconfigure Mail, when create
a mail message the application calls the keychain API looking for a cert
and private key associated with "email@hidden". If it finds one,
the sign message icon is displayed and all is right with the world.
If all you have is certs with "email@hidden" in them, then Mail won't
display the signing icon at all.
