Based on your requirements it sounds like you don't need a cross platform
solution so this may not have as much value to you but it can still be a
great tool on OSX.
I have used Unison http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~bcpierce/unison/ for a number
of years now for bi-directional synchronization, with conflict resolution as
well as straight backups with a lot of success. I regularily synchronize
things between Windows, OSX, Linux.
