The short answer is no, because the version of SAMBA included with
10.3 and 10.3 Server does not work with NTLMv2 authentication. NIH is
also going through this and my institute had to upgrade our 10.3
servers that are running Windows file services to 10.4 to accommodate
NTLMv2. Once they're upgraded, the version of SAMBA that's on 10.4
Server can understand and work with NTLMv2 authentication. Your other
recourse would be to bind your Panther server to your location's
Active Directory domain and have the XP boxes talk to your 10.3
server via Kerberos instead of using NTLMv2 authentication.
In general, the advice that the NIH folks are getting is "Upgrade to
10.4."
