Title: Query on Firmware and Boot Camp
Just acquired a Macbook Pro and would like to try Boot Camp. Have downloaded latest Beta 1.1.1 and have all other ingredients.
When I start the Boot Camp assistant it tells me I need a firmware update. (Such condition noted as being possible in the instruction guide.)
But! when I try to install what appears to be the latest firmware updates from Apple support, dated 09/29/2006 (Both the EFI and SMC updaters); their installers tell me that no update is needed and exit.
My machine’s SMC version does match the version noted in the instruction set; my Boot ROM does not.
Any ideas?
(and, yes, I have read all the glowing reviews of Parallels — if I get the money someday.)
