Title: FW: [Fed-Talk] Can,t empty the trash
The freezing problem sounds like a permissions issue.
Try repair disk permissions in Disk Utility. You could
also do get info on the trash can and see if you have
read/write permission. On my system the owner of
the trash is <blank> above all the user accounts in
the pull down in get info.
On the subject of just getting a stubborn trash can to
empty, a much safer way is
Finder, Finder menu, Secure Empty Trash
This always works for me, even deleting open files,
but can take a while if the files are really large, so
do a normal empty first, then secure empty to get
the stragglers.

I don't know what's causing it, but there is always a way to get around it :)
Open a terminal window...
type:
cd .Trash (press return)
rm -Rf * (press return)
Your trash will be empty... this is at the shell level... so MAKE SURE
you type it correct as everything above... rm -Rf will wipe everything
below it, so do NOT do it in the wrong directory.
