I've been running vmware since the early betas. A couple of things that I
have noticed is that its impact on the host is much less than with Parallels
especially when also running Rosetta applications like MS Office 2004.
Entourage would frequently lockup (stop responding) with Parallels running
but it never happens with VMware. I've also found that VMware does not seem
to leak resources (kernel perhaps?) and memory like Parallels does - we have
had numerous issues with users having to hard reboot their Macs after
running Parallels for more than 30 mins or so - when Parallels is closed no
new Mac apps could be started thus the need for a hard reset (software reset
also usually failed at this point).
