However, remember that Windows OS does not do CAC either. The Army uses the “Active Card Gold” package (and some companion software) to implement that functionality. In addition, to electronically sign Army forms or other documents (such as Defense Travel vouchers) with a CAC you also need the “Approve It” software package (not a part of Windows OS either).
Now, the Army does provide those software packages via the “Army Gold Master (AGM)” distribution. And the Army is going to have an “AGM” for Mac (later this year I am led to believe). It would be nice if the Army would include some equivalent CAC software package like they do for the Windows OS as an enterprise licensed package.
