My biggest problem with Apple is the non-disclosure for future operating
systems. I’m prevented from discussing Leopard with anyone outside of
Apple until Leopard ships. This really stinks unless Apple gets
involved (which might not be in our best interests). By the time MS
releases Vista, everyone should know what to expect. When Apple
releases Leopard and ship it on new hardware, customers will not know
what to expect, even with ADC because they won’t be able to test some
third party software.
This is especially relevant to Fed Gov't business, and repeats a
criticism I've made before. Fed IT generally plans out years in advance
(frex, the USAF has been formally planning Vista and Longhorn deployment
for about 18 months now, with Longhorn still a year away, with informal
testing going back much further), and without the ability to preview,
plan and *share* information about upcoming Apple releases it makes it
very difficult--if not impossible--to incorporate Apple products into
the federal workspace.
