I am trying to gauge the interest for Digital Signature using a Mac

Can you please let me know which agency you’re with and how many
users you have that want/need this feature.
If Adobe will implement it, great; but no one supporting a Federal
agency can commit to purchase. However, I can assure you that there
is interest is document digital signing and workflow within the DoD,
and DoD *does* include Macs within the enterprise.
As many of you may or may not be aware, Adobe supports PKCS #11 on
both the Mac and Windows (mostly moved to CAPI by now).
Except it doesn't work with the OS X PKCS#11 module. I logged a bug
about this a few months ago but never heard back. So currently
PKCS#11 signing on OS X with Acrobat is broken.
We are trying to create a business case to support the Mac keychain
since PKCS #11 will not work when using the CAC as the Mac OS will
“own” the card and only allow access via the Mac keychain.
This is untrue. Both PKCS#11 and the OS X Keychain subsystem use PC/
SC, which happily supports access to the card by both methods
simultaneously. For example, Firefox uses PKCS#11 for smartcard
access, and works perfectly well with the CAC alongside (and
simultaneous with) applications accessing the CAC via tokend.
