Hello:
I have uploaded an article on data sanitation, covering new built-
in ATA drives secure erase that is considered more secure than
block erase used by Apple's Disk Utility or open source Darik's
Boot and Nuke ('DBAN'). According to US Government’s National
Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST 800-88) this built-in
secure erase offers security close to levels of physically
destroying media, but allows the drives to be re-used, and doesn't
impact the environment like the by-product of destroying media.
