Anyone notice how the 10.4.9 upgrade on a Intel Mac(macmini) stops ARD
3.1 from copying or installing to a 10.4.9 server.
I have seen this twice already.
Yet on my PPC mac (macmini)I can update to my 10.4.9 server and copy.
Has anyone seen this yet?

It just took me 45 seconds to option-click each link at http://
www.apple.com/server/documentation/ and about an additional 30
seconds or so after my last click for them to finish downloading...

All:
The Alltel Samsung u520 with EVDO works on Apple Mac and I am able to
get download speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps. Alltel will report they do
not support this phone on Mac but it does in fact work.

So is the Common Criteria Tools package now officially supported on
Intel?
Has Apple made any official comments on the Common Criterial Tools
availability for Leopard?

FYI: Regarding the multicast DNS problems discussed earlier, page 126
of the Mac OS X Security Configuration guide has two command lines to
disable and reenable Bonjour.

This excerpt is on page 128 of I731-006R-2007:
Securing Windows Sharing
Windows sharing allows users to access shared files and printers by
using
the SMB/CIFS
protocol. You should not enable Windows sharing, because there are
well-known risks
associated with SMB/CIFS. For example, SMB/CIFS uses NTLMv1 and NTLMv2
encryption, both of which are very weak password hashing schemes.
When you enable Windows sharing, Mac OS X describes the dangers
associated
with
SMB/CIFS.
I'm wondering what the corresponding guide for Windows 2003 says about
this.
This would be the LAN Manager Authentication Level.

Has anyone else have problems with FTP services after updating to
10.4.9? Something else I can not figure out is the banner is saying
its 10.5.5?
All Authentication are currently falling including Anonymous.
220 servername FTP server (Version: Mac OS X Server 10.5.5 003 -
+GSSAPI) ready.
Thanks,
Matt

Has anyone been able to get Mailman to work on OS X Server without a
butt
load of problems?
I've rebuilt an OS X Server 10.4.9 three times tonight and am constantly
having problems with the OS X implementation of MailMan.... using the OS
X
Server Admin GUI it looks like it is working (creating a list), but then
it
disappears... there is also a (superior) way of managing mailman lists,
and
that is through the web... however, it seems as though the OS X
installation
does not work well with the Mailman web based tools...
Now through OS X Server Admin, Mailman has two lists... "Mailman"
(default
and required), and one more that I created (lr-announce)... they seem to
be
working ok.. however, I cannot add any more lists! If I add one through
OS
X Server Admin tools, it appears to create, however, if you exit and
return,
the list is deleted immediately.
If I try to add it through the web interface, I constantly get "Error:
Invalid Virtual Host". Any ideas? This is getting to be a real pain in
the
ass for something that takes 5 minutes to set up on a linux box.
any help appreciated,
mike

1. Yes, I have several Mac OS X Server systems, up t and including
10.4.9, hosting numerous mailman lists. We use both the Server Admin
GUI and the mailman web interface, but primarily the mailman
interface. Minus the Server Admin GUI, mailman works just like
mailman should. Have you tried looking in mailman's docs or googling
for that error? Are you sure you have ALL the DNS and such configured
properly for your server?
2. This is more appropriate for the Mac OS X Server list: http://

Wilkes University announced yesterday that it has pulled the plug on
PCs in favor of Macs, saying the move -- which actually began last
year -- will save the Pennsylvania liberal arts college more than
$150,000 while still letting students and faculty continue to run
Windows applications.
Touted as one of the first colleges to mandate a campuswide shift
from Windows PCs to Macs, the Wilkes-Barre, Pa., school wasn't a
bastion of all things Apple before the decision, said Scott Byers,
vice president for finance and the head of campus IT. Macs, in fact,
were a minority.
Rather than take bids from the usual PC suspects (Dell Inc. and
Hewlett-Packard Co.) as well as Macs, Wilkes decided to go all-Apple
because the new Intel-based models and the BootCamp dual-boot
software -- the Apple Inc. software is still in beta -- would let the
school reduce the number of machines campuswide. "This is an
aggressive technology refresh," Byers said.

We are going to migrate from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 this
weekend.
While we are getting plenty of guidance to set up Outlook, I was
wondering
if we will be able to use Entourage 2004 with the new Exchange server.
We are using RPC over HTTPS if that helps any. We will also have to use
a
CAC (I already have one set up to use with my Mac)
Anyone else out there able to offer assistance or a set up guide?
Thanks
