So is the Common Criteria Tools package now officially supported on
Intel?
Has Apple made any official comments on the Common Criterial Tools
availability for Leopard?
A good question and one I believe has a somewhat longer answer that
many folks on this list might very much want to know if they have
not previously heard.
Points for people to know
Background
* Apple achieved Common Criteria Certification for v10.3.6 (Panther)
* Apple received the Certificate at the RSA Security Conference, Feb
2005
* All Apple Systems were PPC at that time - (22 platforms)
* The PPC version of the Audit Tools are fully covered under
AppleCare Support
* Intel systems were never part of that certification (didn't
publicly exist then)
Current
* All Apple Systems are on Intel processors now
* Apple has not achieved Common Criteria Certification on Intel
Hardware
* Apple has not yet made any official comment on CCC moving forward
* I can provide (case-by-case basis), Intel version of the Audit Tools
- The Intel version has no modifications/fixes - just compiled for
Intel
- The Intel version of the Audit Tools are not covered under
AppleCare Support
** If you need the Auditing Tools for Intel-based systems, please
contact me individually with that request. We ask that you do not
distribute the Audit Tools beyond the systems you directly manage.
