True.... and from what I have seen of Leopard (which may not be anywhere near where they really are) they will need a 10.4.10 :)
Ok... what about rephrasing the question.. can I buy a UNIVERSAL version of Tiger retail? Or are all the retail versions build for PPC only?

Is it possible to purchase OS X Tiger (Workstation) version 10.4.9 on
DVD, like a retail box? (Universal Version).
As a common practice and for my paranoia, I like to have a permanent
copy of final release OS's... I know you can purchase Tiger, but I am
not sure if it is 10.4.9, or if it is a universal version for that
matter.
I know the Intel Macs come with Tiger, however, none of them come with
10.4.9... and I would like a version that is not locked to a specific
type of Mac.
thanks,
mike
