In attempting to access servers or printers on the Windows network, there
seems to be a limit on the number of items that the Mac OS will display. I
am running 10.4.9 on an Intel Mac Pro, though the same situation applied
with G5 Macs.
If I choose to add a printer in Printer Setup Utility, the Printer Browser
comes up. Only the Adobe PDF 7.0 appears in the list. If I choose to add
more printers, I choose Windows Printing and find my domain in the Network
Neighborhood. Once the domain list comes up, it ends at names beginning in
M. The same thing happens if I look for servers, using the Network volume in
the Finder. Problem is, most of what I need, servers, or printers, are
listed as supportsrv..., so I can never access them. Again, all the Windows
network printers are on the server supportsrv2.
Our network uses CAC authentication, except for the Macs, which are still on
a general waiver, lacking a solution for that.
