I have been trying to make my reader work and can't seem to do it. As advised by Apple's Army guy in Virginia, I updated the device's firmware on a PC (a friend did this for me).
I have Common Access Card Viewer v
2.0.
When plugged into USB, my reader (SCR 331) shows up as a connected device. When I launch the CAC application and attempt to do anything, the computer does not recognize that I have a card inserted. I know my card is good, I've used it on a military computer without problems.
I have read Shawn Geddis' guide and another document entitled SmartCardAdmin_v1.0.pdf.
I've gone into terminal and done something with root, which was described in one of the documents I read. As you can tell, I'm not very computer saavy. At login I now have a choice of CAC or regular login. Despite my best efforts, I can't seem to get my computer to recognize when I insert my smart card.
If somebody out there can help, I'd sure appreciate it. I have a PowerBook G4 btw, OS 10.3.9
Could you please spell out, in very plain English, how to make this work? That is, if I can make it work...
THANKS so much.
Cpt G, US Army
