Real Player was recently added to the prohibited software list for Army
Networks.
OS X has been banned (locally) because while Unix based servers are
allowed, Unix based workstations are not.
iTunes was banned (at this site) some time ago for "Streaming Media"
Also at this site:
Apple Downloads web page blocked for "shareware"
Apple QT web page blocked for "streaming media"
Apple QT download page blocked for "streaming media/MP3"
Although the Apple software update installed with QT is still works.
Apple Discussion forums were blocked for "Chat" but that has since been
rescinded.
I used the argument that nearly all manufacturers now provide "user to
user suport forums" to supplant (or replace) official tech support, and
(list) were not blocked, so the block on Apple forums should be lifted.

While I know you probably know this, iTunes is NOT "P2P" software, and
it's ridiculous for it to be banned for that reason (especially if
Windows Media Player and Real Player aren't similarly banned).
