Title: Script for listing installed applications
Try exceuting “system_profiler” from the command
line. Do a “man system_profiler” to get the various levels of
details.

Subject: [Fed-Talk] Script for
listing installed applications
We’re undergoing a wall to wall inventory of
hardware and installed software (result of A-76). I have a requirement to
come up with a way to list all of the applications installed on a computer
including Open Source software that may or may not be installed in the
/Applications folder (/usr/local, /~/bin, etc.) I know that System
Profiler does some of what I need but the additional need would be that it
needs to be in script form, whether shell, perl, etc. Has anyone come
across such a tool?
Thanks in advance
Jerry
