FYI,
Below is the preliminary information on Pointsec:
* Essentially the same as their Windows Full Disk Encryption,
certifications for FIPS 140-2 validation underway, but this is a
formality as the crypto module is the same for their other FDE
product.
* Requirements/Support:
- Intel Processor
- 50MB free disk space
- Supports Mac OS X 10.4.5 – 10.4.11 (Tiger), 10.5.0
(Leopard)
I also have a PowerPoint presentation that you can request by emailing
me. This goes into a little more depth then the information above.
As
soon as we receive the final materials from CheckPoint, we'll
forward it
along.
Regarding FIPS:
1) Pointsec's FIPS implementation on Mac uses the same ccore32.bin
that's already certified. This module moved right over without a
recompile, allowing them to make the claim that the library
maintains FIPS compliance—as allowed by FIPS IG G.5.
2) For Check Point Full Fisk Encryption product they are "In
Process" to update their FIPS certificate to include Mac as an
additional platform. Atlan, our FIPS lab have been contracted to do
the required testing and reports to CMVP and are working on this.
Anyone wishing to talk or meet with CheckPoint directly, or schedule a
WebEx presentation, please contact me. Software evaluations are also
available.
Regards,
Russ
P.S. Pointsec is set for release next week.
