Understandable. Peer-to-peer when it comes to "music software" is
generally thought of with items like Napster and the like.
However, by using the definition that is provided below, almost
anything can be defined as Peer-to-peer. Windows workstation
relationships, OSX bonjour...
I agree that programs are grossly misunderstood when it comes to how
programs are intended to be used and what they do. People generally
think that iTunes is a music/peer to peer app, and it's banned that
way. Sorry, it just frustrates me. :)

iTunes allows contacts/music/calendars..etc.. to by Synced to the
iPhone, but iTunes and Email have nothing to do with each other.
You are able to sync your Mail accounts on your mac with your
iPhone (so that you don't have to go through the manual process of
doing it on the iPhone), but it can done solely on the iPhone.
iTunes is NOT NOT NOT peer to peer software. You CANNOT trade
music with it. Someone can listen to YOUR music locally over the
network, if you allow them to (not enabled by default). But you
CANNOT trade music with each other.
I wish people would stop saying that iTunes is peer to peer. (Not
you Al, just in general) I've heard it 100x.
depends on how you define peer to peer. When one client can
communicate directly with a second client, not through a server, you
have peer to peer. The threat of peer to peer, of course, is the
spread of malware or sharing of illegal content. Obviously we all
know that iTunes will not spread malware and will not allow the
illegal sharing of content, it is, by definition, peer to peer.
That said, it all depends on how one (or specifically our agencies)
defines peer to peer.
