Title: Re: [Fed-Talk] MS Office: mac 2008 Experiences
I’ve found that Office 2008 to be rather buggy. Word crashes frequently on my 10.4.11 box and we have had very serious issues with it zapping all the tables in a document. We’ve also noticed some bizarre issues with the new fonts it installs, they seem to be picked up with other apps and cause rendering issues. We are still trying to isolate the problem.
We have filed a few issues on the UI with MS. though generally I like it, they made some truly bizarre UI decisions. For example there is no way to remove the elements gallery tool bar, they only made some of the tool bars dockable, the formula bar in Excel is not dockable (this is really really annoying and judging by MS’s forums most people agree).
the current version does not support CAC authenticated OWA/Webmail servers. Hopefully Microsoft will fix this in an upcoming patch to office 2008. If people are interested in this – I would recommend contacting your MS rep and asking for a DCR to be opened on the issue.

Mac 2008 adds loaded with plenty of new features, but the one thing that I am excited about is its ability to run natively on both power pc and Intel-based Apple computers. Making seamless compatibility between Office 2007 Professional Plus and Office: mac 2008 on VM.
The two big questions are whether Microsoft changes its mind about VB macros and Achieve PST.
Anybody has a better news from Microsoft !?
