Anyone else having this problem with CACs and Apple Mail 3.3 (MacOS
10.5.4) ?
If one person sends me a signed e-mail (using "DOD CLASS 3 EMAIL
CA-10" as the authority who signed their PKI cert), I see a "<check
mark> Signed (FIRST.LAST.EDIPI)" in the "Security" field of the
header. If a second person sends me a signed e-mail (using "DOD EMAIL
CA-11" as the authority who signed their CAC), I also see a "<check
mark> Signed (FIRST.LAST.EDIPI)" in the "Security" field of the
header. I can then click on the check marks and pull up their
certificate information.
If, however, the second person then sends me an encrypted e-mail
(using "DOD EMAIL CA-11"), I do not see anything in the "Security"
field (the "Security" field is displayed but it is empty). (I believe
that the first person is using a DoD PKI softcert, "CLASS 3", and I
know the second is using a DoD CAC.)
I don't know what happens if the first person sends me an encrypted
message, but the point is that the CAC-encrypted message has
absolutely no security information displayed. (BTW, If I don't have
my CAC inserted, the signed messages still shows the "Security"
information but the encrypted messages displays an "Unable to decrypt
message" banner and an SMIME attachment. This part makes sense (if I
don't have my CAC inserted).
Anyone else seeing this ?
Thanks, Basil
