Since we're one upping my original questions, here's another: Is there such a thing as a personal device at a Government installation anymore? It becomes the government's by exclusion...that is, controlled by what it is not allowed to do rather than what it can do.
My original question was for my personal device (to be bought by me for an existing account) but whenever you carry a commo device on post, it's de facto under the jurisdiction of that post (have all the personal thumb drives you want, but don't plug them into the network...Have your I-phone, but we won't let you log onto your e-mail. And in some places, as with a recent embarrassment at the White House, you literally leave your commo at the door, which for some folks with Crackberries is equivalent to leaving their hearts.
So, yes, the questions were for my personal use (and I hope it's not true I can't get one or must wait forever for the new hardwre as I need one for my low vision). But the question of official vs unofficial use is very blurry (like my vision...heh-heh...) these days.
