The authority is CJCSI 6510.01D, which says that CC/S/As will set
their own policy regarding personal equipment connecting to DoD
resources (see 13.h.2), and that if allowed the equipment will meet
all applicable requirements.
Which means that the DoD won't tell you you can't, but the *Army* might.
Most services pushed this down to the local DAA level (if you still
have them; AF is moving to a single, central DAA system).
This also means that while it's not an Army asset it will be
configured and operated as if it were. What that means in the event
of classified spills is kinda unclear, but I'm willing to bet you'd
lose it without compensation. :)
