As a workaround, we created a tool that does the configuration for the user.
When run, the application downloads a list of sites to setup, asks the user
which certificate to use and adds the appropriate identity preferences.
It's made life easier, but has put us in the position of maintaining a list
of sites to configure. Ideally, Apple would add support for wildcards,
allowing us to set a single https://*.mit.edu preference.
