Title: Re: [Fed-Talk] Some thoughts on Apple and the Enterprise
Boyd,
Do you want your AD/Kerberos/SmartCard provided by Apple based on pricing, or do you think that Apple can do a better job integrating and supporting it?
I believe Thursby is much more responsive to customer needs than Apple is when it comes to AD integration. For example, fixing Oberthur card support did not happen until 10.5.6. Also, Apple’s PKINIT implementation is not compatible with either Windows 2003 or Windows 2008. That said, I think that Apple has come a long way in support for the government with 10.4 and 10.5. Third parties add value to OS vendor products. For example Active Card Gold. We are better positioned to provide things like JITC certification.
As we continue to work with the Army and other DoD and Federal agencies, we believe our products and services provide good value.

a. Authentication and Authorizations including full use of Kerberos ticketing. The third party app from Thursby is a very good step forward but it should be integrated natively into the operating system.
