Please pardon my ignorance here: What does BSM stand for? Thanks.
It used to stand for Sun's "Basic Security Module", which ~1992 was a module that made several changes to the SunOS operating system to harden it (like creating a shadow password file, installing auditing, and so on). I think now BSM just refers to the audit system.
BSM is the auditing system for Mac OS X, FreeBSD, OpenSolaris, and Solaris. You can find more information at:
