DES was withdrawn in 2005. TripleDES (TDEA) is the only approved use of
DES. :)
I know US Fed crypto regulation is a maze of twisty passages (do I smell
a wumpus? ;), but I live this stuff, so don't feel bad. It takes a
certain perverse mindset to enjoy it.
