If you're a contractor and expected to check your e-mail at home, your
employer should buy the copy of Mac Office. Do they expect you to buy
your own laptop?
If not for the HUP, I wouldn't have bought Mac Office. I'm not
expected to check my e-mail from home and really only do so from my
personal computer to avoid carrying my work laptop on TDYs. I don't
check my work e-mail from home very often.
In the words of a union-represented mechanic I once worked with, "f---
'em, that's your money." (he really did say that frequently) If your
employer or DOD-sponsoring agency won't buy you Mac Office and OWA
doesn't work for you on Safari, don't worry about checking your mail
at home.
