Try Darwin Streaming Server:

Mac folk,
I’m looking for an OPEN streaming server solution that’s capable of shooting out video from DVDs, a digital archive of H.264 footage, and live cable/satellite/internal camera sources to potentially every desktop in my organization, but at minimum probably somewhere north of 500 “digital signs” that are Mac-based and display their content in a WebKit browser window. Internal bandwidth is not a consideration, but external bandwidth is, meaning I don’t want the server to be actively pulling data in over our internet connection constantly.
QTSS+Broadcaster is on the table, but I’ve not had much luck with that in the past, admitting that the last time I touched it was circa 2000. I’ve also found VLC <http://www.videolan.org/> and icecast in a random google search, and they seem like they might be promising, but before I go down a blind path, thought I’d see what the experts have to say.
Look forward to your responses.
Thanks,
