- Thread-topic: Mac OS X Server Serial Validation
This is a question to anyone at apple, or anyone in the group that may be able to help...
Some time ago you may recall me asking about OS X Server 10.5 because I have salvaged several Dual G5 PowerMac machines (which still out perform a lot of these crappy Dells laying around here) and I am commissioning them as servers...
Beings you can no longer buy media from Apple for OS X Server 10.5, and you can no longer buy that version from Apple (and it has to be 10.5 because 10.6 will not run on G5 processors)... I've been forced to look to ebay for licenses.
The problem I have is that none of the sellers on ebay ship media, they only sell the serial numbers... the problems I have with that is I do not know if the serial numbers provided are legal or if they are hot.
Does Apple have a website, or a contact person that I can talk to about validating serial numbers to make sure they are not on a hot list, or a "kill" list? I do not want to be forking out several hundred dollars for a code that may be deactivated because a few million people are using it.
I would also be interested in buying serial numbers from people on this list that perhaps are no longer using their leopard servers as I know the ones on here are far less likely to be bootleg illegal copies. I need about 10.
Mike
