That was a different era. That was *14 years ago*, in a different context. Remember, AFTER that, and after Jobs' return to Apple, not only did he not kill off the Mac, he oversaw development of an entirely new OS for the Mac platform. And the Mac platform is still profitable, successful, and growing.
Mac OS X isn't going anywhere (anytime soon).
