- Thread-topic: [Fed-Talk] GuardianEdge Disk encryption on MAC
I had a trouble ticket in with NMCI on this issue. I have an NMCI box, but do all of my meaningful work on an iMac.
Bottom line: There is no Mac version of GuardianEdge, nor is there one in the works as far as I could probe. It appears you have four choices:
1. Burn the data to optical disc on the NMCI box. From what the help desk told me, GuardianEdge does not encrypt optical media.
2. E-mail the file elsewhere.
3. Run a virtual machine on the Mac and install the GuardianEdge decryption software on it.
4. Bring your removable media to a Windows computer and decrypt the data on it first.
None of these options are really a solution, only work-arounds. If you have the means, I believe e-mailing the files would be the least painless. The other options just add overhead to something that should be a very simple task. I pleaded with NMCI to change the settings on my machine and disable the "data-at-rest" encryption, but they said that cannot be done.
This is a crummy situation. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I work on an NMCI Laptop at work and when I bring work home, any items encrypted cannot be decrypted on my MAC. Does anyone know of an "Apple" version, or a possible work-around other than emailing every file to a personal email from work?
