It is really easy and exceedingly inexpensive (by contrast to h/w
solutions) to make just about any common standard (I stress standard)
USB drive secure to NIST FIPS 140-2 standards. In fact it works so
well and operates so smoothly my family has no idea which USB drives
(and FireWire) are encrypted in the house.
