Although no handwriting recognition kills it for medical unfortunately. Unless someone gets a stylus and uses inkwell.

More real estate, combined with an incredibly light and portable device should create a new class of applications. Remember the newer Star Trek series where a subordinate would hand the captain a pad with a summary of information in order to have him make a decision? This could be that pad.
I think maps and other situational awareness needs (common operational picture) will be much better served by this platform. Sometimes trying to present information on the iPhone felt like looking through a straw. The iPhone is like the Predator, where the iPad is like the Global Hawk.
