I think it's more the assumption that GPS is on the same sub-board as the 3G
chipset, if not the same chip.
I expect that you can get the model with 3G + GPS, and use a third-party
mobile hotspot, but still get GPS. You'll pay the $130 up front but not pay
AT&T monthly fees.
