I think it's more the assumption that GPS is on the same sub-board

I expect that you can get the model with 3G + GPS, and use a third-
party
mobile hotspot, but still get GPS. You'll pay the $130 up front but
not pay
AT&T monthly fees.

So you must go through AT&T to get GPS?

There are any number of 3G Wi-Fi mobile hotspots available from
carriers like Verizon, Sprint, and regional carriers. If you go
that route, and don't need GPS on the device, then the issue of
local 3G connectivity on the iPad is moot.

Someone mentioned using Verizon's MiFi. How would that work?
Wouldn't that be a better way to go for DoD, enabling something
like 4 wifi connections per device? I could imagine that being a
great thing in classrooms and the Field if it worked as I think it
does.>

Was hoping for a tethering plan with my iPhone. Why can't I
use my
iPhone as a modem for laptop/iPad?
Mainly because AT&T says no. There's more money in selling you an
additional data plan (moreson because that means they collect a
complete second set of fees to accrue interest on in the tax
escrow account).

Also, interface issues with books need some work for science,
medicine>and gov users. Need to be able to highlight among other
fundamentals. Can you embed markup in documents to go to TOC or
references?

Sooooo....What do you all think?! Is it more likely than an

to be adopted by DoD? Does it have 3G? Why no phone? (I was

told you to call it the Apple SLICE...GET IT?! ;o)
