Most of the SCAP tools will run now, or will in the future run on Macs. they are generally just Java based XML interpreters. The tool is the not issue; the issue is that there is no SCAP content for the Mac. Apple has been dragging their feet on this for years. Shawn Geddis is the Apple person responsible and he is way overworked. SCAP is not is primary responsibility. The issue is not with Shawn, it's will Apple for not investing in this technology. At some point the OMB is going to just say No computers unless there is SCAP for them, then Apple will need to act or get forced our of the government market. Until then, Apple has has no incentive to act.
It's clear to everyone who works with Macs in the enterprise that Apple is happy to support the enterprise (and government) as long as they don't have to invest too much. Apple is happily selling lots of equipment, so the enterprise and government markets just aren't all that important to them. We all love our Macs and we appreciate our Apple Enterprise sales force, but Apple has a long way to go.
Bottom line, no, there are no SCAP tools for the Mac since there is to SCAP content for the Mac.
That said, a number of agencies have developed their own tools to harden Macs. We have at LANL and I can make my tool available to you. Please contact me off line. Our tool is not a COTS tools and would require some perl programing on your agencies part to get it to work in your environment.
