True, but I think they have always been pretty mum on it. They could have simply answered
"We've got a strong signal here. We have an AT&T cell site on campus."
I think this is as close to an admission that they have been testing CDMA as we've heard so far -- they don't see the "death grip" on their CDMA test phones either.
Yeah, it's a stretch. :-P

Wishful thinking, my friends... If Apple had been working on a CDMA phone, they would have released it and called it the vPhone or something (to get around the AT&T exclusive on iPhone). :-) While no one really knows what goes on in Steve Jobs’ head, I’m 98% confident that they’re not going to make a piece of hardware that will only work with one carrier in one country. The economies of scale just don’t go there...
When VZW has stood up LTE across the board, when only the frequencies are different between carriers, will be when the iPhone runs on VZW.
