Title: Re: [Fed-Talk] iOS4 Issues -- first impressions
Hi Jerry,
May be a stupid question here: How did you do a restore rather than update on your 3G iPhone? Can you explain this a bit more? Cheers.

Upgraded yesterday, did a restore rather than update. L O V E the app folders. Don't know how I ever lived without them. Also like that the OS is making apps more accountable than they were before. Keeping track of which apps are tracking me is a stroke of genius. I don't mind it so much now that I can 1) see which apps are doing it, 2) disable that reporting on an app by app basis if necessary, and 3) turn it ALL off if I want to go into stealth mode for whatever reason. My 3GS overall feels faster and more responsive, though that could be due to the restore process itself and I know I'll get used to it over time, but it's nice.
Here's a question. Ma Bell "graciously" allowed me to change my plan from the $30 unlimited to Data Pro plus tethering without having to re-up for another two torturous years, which amounted to a $15 increase for me -- about what I expected to be paying for the tethering ability in the first place. But there's no option in the OS to turn tethering on. It's not where it used to be ;-). I imagine there's a carrier settings file that hasn't been pushed to my phone for whatever reason so I'll have to call to find out what gives ... unless someone on here has any ideas.
Another thing ... minor irritant ... the screen gamma appears to have changed again. Before it was a mellow yellowish tint, now it's shifted back in the bluish direction of the original iPhone. Not a fan. The blue washes blacks out, makes everything appear pale. Colors are deeper with a yellowish tint. I wish there were a way for those of us who know how to adjust the gamma ourselves as we can on a regular Apple monitor. Designers use Macs and we know color. Very hard to use an iPad or an iPhone to demo artwork when we have no control over what the colors will look like on the screen.
