I am nearly 100% positive that the light is hardwired to the camera. (camera on = light on)
But I don't know where to look that up 100%. -- Joel Esler 706-231-1451 Sent from my iPhone On Mar 3, 2010, at 11:53 AM, "Linton, Matthew C. (ARC-TI)" < email@hidden> wrote:
Hi all;
I am engaged in a discussion with my co-workers about the levels of risk present in software which activates the Apple integrated webcams in laptops, apple monitors, etc. One thing I’m not able to answer at the moment is this set of questions:
- Is the green “camera activated” light controlled by software (OS, API, etc) or firmware in the camera (ie, power on to the lens = light activated)?
- Given the answer above, is this documented somewhere in writing?
If anyone can give me any pointers I’d appreciate it greatly.
