Interesting statement considering that Apple is the only OS vendor providing you with out-of-the-box support for the US Federal Government Smart Cards (CAC/PIV, with CACNG emerging). Because there is not a physical slot in your MacBook Pro does not mean that Apple is Slow or not supporting Smart Cards.
Please clarify the foundation of your statement.
At this point with the support that Microsoft provides with Windows 7
and Server 2008, which includes PKinit, the extent of the Apple
advantage implied is overstated. Some of us have been waiting for a
complete Mac console login solution for quite some time and local
authentication is a non-starter.
