I had poked the developers on the dev versions to get smartcard support working correctly- and they got most of it right. They did run into some problems when a server performs a renegotiation of the SSL handshake, which a lot of CAC protected sites use. I think Jens (the Google developer) had encountered a bug in Secure Transport which prevented this from working correctly. Might get fixed sometime in the future (the discussion happened on the apple-cdsa mailing list back in Feb)
