If memory serves me, machine changes as far as the bluetooth ID when you boot into BootCamp. Where technologies like Parallels and Oracle/Sun VirtualBox accept the Mac's passthru of the keyboard as an App, it is a real rebinding with a different machine under BootCamp.
And keyboards/mice only bind to one host.
Sorry to hear about the path. There might be some surprises in store (pun intended) that change minds about how servers might be used. With the pending death of USB, FireWire, eSATA, and potentially HDMI, DVI, and all variants of VGA, I would not be surprised if Apple had a surprise in store.
