It sounds like there are two issues going on here. The Bootcamp Mac install and the Windows drivers you get during the install.
You don't need to install the old Mac Bootcamp software to get the Windows drivers inside.
In earlier versions of Bootcamp I was able to open the installer package and copy out the Windows drivers, because that's all I needed.
Here is the multi step process:
Open the Bootcamp installer dmg file, right click on the Install Boot Camp Assistant.mpkg and Show Package Contents, open Contents, open Resources, right click on BootCampAssistant.pkg and Show Package Contents, open Contents and copy the file Archive.pax.gz to an empty folder somewhere and double click on it.
Only a few more steps...
Open the decompressed Application folder, and Utilities folder, right click on Boot Camp Assistant.app and Show Package Contents, open Contents, open Resources, and you should see a file call DiskImage.dmg. That is the Windows drivers disk.
Whew!
