Where is this file? And does it need to be just an admin or root?
Additionally, does anyone know how Macs cache passwords/setup "mobile" accounts etc.? I'm not familiar with Macs in a Windows environment, really. Is there some sort of file that keeps password hashes that I can delete to get him back in? Thanks,
-Mike

Mike H,
Sorry, that wasn’t helpful of me if he infact does have filevault (didn’t really give any more details)... If you log in with an administrator account and attempt to open his .sparsebundle with his user name and password, and it authenticates, but then disk utility tells you the sparebundle is damaged or unmountable – that’d point to filevault. If it opens just fine with the same user/pass then there is some login issue.

Weird problem.
Suddenly, a user is totally unable to login to his iMac. It's running 10.5.8 with Centrify and is managed on our JAMF Software Server. He logs in with his AD account, and now he just gets the window shaking when he tries to login. I've tried logging him in as domain/user.name <http://user.name> but this doesn't work either. He is typing his password correctly because he can login to his Windows machine. I can login to his Mac with both my AD accounts. I've unbound and rebound his machine with Centrify and this didn't fix anything. I also deleted the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist, loginwindow.plist, and deleted a local user account that I thought may have been conflicting with his AD account, though he always had it on there and never had a problem with it.
Anyone have anything else to try?
