I use OpenDNS at home which works great. My kids don’t have permission to edit the DNS, so it works fine even as they are getting older. But if they have their own computer and can change the network settings, then you need something else. I have my router set to use the OpenDNS servers so even if the client isn’t configured to use it the router will pass it through. Once you setup a free account with OpenDNS you set the filters and link it to your external IP address. They have a utility that runs at startup for Mac, PC and Linux that will change the IP address on your account if your ISP gives you a new one. I also tried all of the commercial packages – one of them stopped my kids from going to everything! (disney.com, webkinz.com, apple.com, etc…) Definitely a little over zealous! OpenDNS has worked great and has some really good additional features. http://www.opendns.com/ Jason - -

As a reservist, I access CAC-internet sites from my home computer. I have tried multiple internet filters for Mac, but so far I have not found one that does not in some part interfere with CAC. Safe Eyes would not let me access government web sites at all until I uninstalled it. Am I doing something incorrectly? Anyone using home filters successfully?
