I was speaking in general about the situation, not about you specifically. The demonizers are the Android fans/"open source" crowds with their conveniently odd definitions of "free" and "open." This post tut-tutting Apple's IP actions is an implied nod of approval at that sentiment, a trap I would hope we on this list wouldn't fall into given this platform's history. But I neither intended nor had a reason to single you out.
I think it's fine to criticize the patent system and to call for reform, but I don’t think it's fine for us to play into the "Apple is evil because it's patenting technology that should be 'open'" game. That's the same argument people were making about look and feel 20 years ago.

Patent holding companies do nothing but purchase and litigate patents;
they create no IP of their own. This is a niche business that exists only
because of peculiarities in the law, and can be legitimately held to have
no constructive purpose.
Nowhere did I demonize the companies that create IP, nor did I say that
patents are evil and should all be invalidated. Don¹t put words into my
mouth, or at least have the courtesy to keep it to private email when you
do.
