I've never been able to tell if when I'm tethered (personal hotspot) if its actually using the wi-fi if I happen to be connected to that, or its still using the AT&T 3G.
What I do know is that whatever the case, the personal hotspot has been working great since the 4G iPhones came out. It seems to work faster if i have my MacBook Pro tethered via the USB cable rather than bluetooth. I do have more connection drops with the bluetooth tethering as well, but seems to be happening less frequently of late.
It works well enough that I dumped my AT&T Sierra Wreless USB aircard.
Based on some of the comments today, I'm not so sure I'm going to jump on this latest iOS update.
