Hi All:
It is a long story, but we have an Xserve that was running Server 10.5.7. It had to be rebooted, so we ran software update, which said it updated to 10.5.8. On reboot we get an error that the ACPI driver cant be found. We can not boot into single user mode either.
We were able to hook it up to something else running 10..5, and the drive itself can be seen just fine in target mode using firewire. We downloaded the 10.5.8.server combo updater, and used the command "installer" to install the update from that package. "installer" implied that all went well, but after a bunch of tries, we finally got rid of the acpi error, it just wouldn't start period. So we tried blessing the volume, and got right back with the errors.
The computer os actually the metadata controller for an XSan2. We are in the process of cloning it at this moment. So my questions are:
1. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the ACPI driver error so that we can just used the drive we have.
2. If I have to wipe the drive, and reinstall the server, does the XSan installer install anything except what is in /Library/FIlesystem/XSan? I have a clone, and can just restore that directory, or should I reinstall the XSan software, and then just restore the parts of that contain the information about the different san volumes?
Basically any suggestions on any of these things would be welcome.
Thanks,
-Roy M.
